David Šlechta - viola

   David Slechta was born in 1978 in Frydlant. In 1998 he graduated the Conservatory Teplice with L. van Beethoven Violin Concerto D major with the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1996 to 1998 he was the member of the first violin group in the orchestra mentioned above. After that he became student in L.Kyselak's viola class at the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. In 1999 and 2000 he took part in 3 months' stays at the Toho Gakuen Orchestra Academy in Toyama (Japan). His study was focused on chamber music and orchestral playing. In 2003 he graduated JAMU with compositions of R.Schumann, B.Martinu, B.Bartok and received his Master's degree. Then David worked for the Värmlandsoperan in Karlstad (Sweden). From 2004 to 2009 he was the member of the Osaka Symphony Orchestra (Japan). Since September 2009 he has been playing in the Brno Philharmonic and joined the Matys Quartet. For more than ten years he has been giving recitals with the japanese pianist Mari Omichi (ViP Duo) and also teaching viola playing.
